The first paper-based chemistry kit
Lab-On-A-Book is an innovative, paper-based chemistry kit designed to offer middle school students in under-resourced environments a hands-on science learning experience without the need for a physical laboratory. The kit features eleven interactive experiments that teach core chemistry concepts like pH, density, and mixtures through inquiry-driven activities. By using everyday materials such as paper and water, students can explore fundamental scientific principles while also developing problem-solving and collaborative skills.
This project is rooted in constructivist and experiential learning theories, offering students agency in their learning process. The design encourages exploration, critical thinking, and creativity, enabling learners to build their own experiments, apply findings to real-life scenarios, and reflect on their learning in an engaging, accessible format. Lab-On-A-Book aims to bridge the gap in science education where infrastructure limitations exist. We want students to have agency to experience the world.
